Bayer MaterialScience awards $1,000 to Berkshire South Regional Community Center

Great Barrington, MA – Berkshire South Regional Community Center has been awarded $1,000 from Bayer MaterialScience (Sheffield, MA) in support of their Teen Outreach Nutrition Exercise (TONE) program.

Bayer MaterialScience, locally known as Sheffield Plastics, employs approximately 150 people in within the two facilities in their Sheffield location. As part of their ongoing commitment to the local community, they support many organizations in the surrounding area. Their funding to Berkshire South lends support to the costs of the students’ initial fitness assessments as part of the TONE Program.

The Teen Outreach Nutrition Exercise (TONE) program promotes fitness, nutrition, and community service, helping local youth to create healthy lifestyles that will serve them well when they mature into early adulthood. As a multi-year program, TONE offers teens a structured opportunity to access the Center’s resources throughout their high school years. TONE is just one program included in Berkshire South’s popular Youth Intervention/Prevention Curriculum.

The mission of Berkshire South Regional Community Center is to build a sense of community and common purpose throughout the region, and to enhance the recreational, educational, cultural, health and social well-being of the residents of the Southern Berkshires. Berkshire South is a non-sectarian, non-profit organization open to all, regardless of ability to pay. For more information, please call (413) 528-2810 or go to
