Collaboration between Berkshire South and Berkshire Co-op Market provides free programming to youth
The Berkshire Co-op Market and Berkshire South Regional Community Center have partnered once again to offer the annual week of free, fun and educational programs for the upcoming school break, April 21-25. Programs are free for south county children in kindergarten through grade 8.
Last year, 286 individuals from all over the southern Berkshire County participated in free activities such as, gardening, making seed balls, youth fitness activities and even learning about solar hot water. All programs are scheduled to run between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm throughout the week. Children can participle in Get Unplugged Passport program where they can collect stamps based on the number of programs they attend to earn family discounts and prizes at the end of the week.
The success of the week is made possible by the many giving volunteers and community businesses. This year, Berkshire South and Berkshire Co-op Market is excited to announce the following programs being offered: Solar Heating & Hot Water workshop, Berkshire Bike & Board, Hands-on cooking with Food Adventures, Energy from the Sun w/CET, Relay Races w/Crossfit Great Barrington, The Dive Shop, Hike the Threemile Hill Trail, West African Fusion Cuisine & West African Fusion Dance, Arbor Day activities with arborists Tom Ingersoll and John Fields, Phenology Walk (seasonal changes in nature), Fashion Design with Tasha Polizzi, Build a Bug with Project Native, Hula Hooping, Gardening w/Greenagers, Fly Fishing, Humane Heroes with Purradise, Basketball, Boomerangs and more.
Complete schedule details and registration information will be posted on the websites of Berkshire Co-op Market (www.berkshire.coop) and Berkshire South (www.berkshiresouth.org).
