Greylock Federal Credit Union awards $10,000 to Berkshire South Regional Community Center’s Community Supper Program

Great Barrington, MA – Greylock Federal Credit Union awarded a $10,000 grant to Berkshire South Regional Community Center (BSRCC) in July 2013 to support the Center’s free community supper program. Funds donated by Greylock Federal Credit Union would be used to support the purchase of food for each supper.

The Community Supper program started in January of 2009 as a monthly spaghetti supper prepared by staff and volunteers to provide a platform for healthy social connections. Since then, BSRCC has served well over 3,600 meals to individuals coming from a diverse economic background.  As the Community Supper program began to grow, dozens of area chefs and restaurants joined in to volunteer their talents and the program has expanded to serving meals on a weekly basis. These local chefs and restaurants, who provide their invaluable expertise to the Center, allow the Center to serve a delicious, nutritious and healthy meal to the community.

Jenise Lucey, Executive Director of BSRCC says, “The program is much more than meeting basic needs of feeding the hungry. Our community based program nourishes the spirit, mind and body.”

Free Community Suppers are held every Monday evening at BSRCC. Meals are served from 5 – 6 p.m. and are open to the public.
