NBT Bank to Support Anti-Bullying Initiative at Berkshire South

Great Barrington, MA – Berkshire South Regional Community Center has received an award of $500 from NBT Bank to support their Anti-Bullying Initiative programming. The support provided by NBT Bank will be specifically used to help launch participation in the National Bullying Prevention Month this coming October, a campaign held during the entire month that unites communities nationwide to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention.

Children in programs at the Community Center during the month of October will participate in projects that reinforce how to recognize, report and refuse bullying. A specialized component of the curriculum, “Bystander Power”, will teach the students that they can be a part of the solution; knowing that all who see bullying or know about it also have the power to make change.

Berkshire South’s Anti-Bullying Initiative is part of their Youth Intervention/Prevention Curriculum (YIPC). YIPC initiatives include free and low-cost activities for elementary, middle, high school and traditional college-age students. YIPC programming provides an extensive support network for these students, each program building off the success of the previous one and enabling students to achieve their physical, mental, and social goals.
