Nutrition on a Budget with Deborah Phillips, MS, LDN, CHES
Wednesdays, 3:30-5 p.m.
A three-session workshop discussion about nutrition, growing food, and preparing healthy, affordable meals. The first session will be all about vegetables. A discussion on the what, why and how of veggies, including encouragement to grow your own. Less common vegetables will be discussed and then, with recipes, we will prepare a salad and a cooked vegetable.  The second session will be all about beans. We will look at the different varieties, preparing dried and canned beans, the nutrition of several varieties of beans, including having beans as a protein source. We will prepare hummus and black bean brownies with recipes provided. The third session will be about the importance of herbs and spices in your diet. Discussion of both fresh and dried herbs, with encouragement to grow your own in pots. We will make golden milk, tea and a spice based vegetable and/or bean dish with recipes provided.

Drawing with the Artist’s Eye
Thursdays 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Artist Ken Otsuka will teach you basic drawing skills and how to see objects while you develop your own artistic style. You will also learn the basic difference between colors of light & colors of pigments. Supplies included in price. Minimum 6 participants: pre-registration and payment due by May 25th. Meet Ken, see some of his art before participating in the program, May 11, 2-4 p.m. in the Center’s Sagner Lounge.

Berkshire South Bridge Club  Now on Fridays!
For adults and seniors. Triple your fun as duplicate bridge returns to Berkshire South with three games each week! Join certified bridge director Dan Philip for this ACBL-sanctioned game with friendly people, immediate results and reports sent by email and posted on the web. The game is stratified so each pair will compete against those with similar skills. Open to ACBL members and non-members alike. Light refreshments provided. Learn to use the 5 D’s of organizing and discover how to be more organized in your current living environment as well as be better prepared for transitions later. This program covers setting goals, where to begin, interacting with family members, assessing the current situation, and how to distribute unwanted items with direct discussion of participant situations and questions as examples of how to proceed. An Introduction to Chinese
Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 p.m.
For adults age 18+. A six-session series for travelers, teachers, students, and the plain curious. No prior knowledge of Chinese necessary. Learn the history and basic parts of characters; how to read, write, and pronounce common words (e.g., on menus and signs). Participants will go home with resources to pursue their learning further.
