Summer Staff Positions
Waterfront Coordinator Garfield and Mansfield – Maintain a safe lake and park environment for guests and staff. Create and manage all schedules throughout the entire summer. Handle all staffing scheduling challenges and shift changes when needed. Handle all incidents on site as well as all incident reporting. Act as the primary individual responsible for day-to-day operation of park. Compile lake statistics on an ongoing basis, and create a season-end report for the Parks and Recreation Commission. Will be required to work 4-5 days one of which must be a weekend day. Must be Certified as a Waterfront Lifeguard and CPR, First Aid, and AED, and must be 21 years of age.
Assistant Coordinators for Waterfront & Parks – Maintain a safe lake and park environment for guests and staff. Assist the Waterfront Coordinator manage all schedules throughout the entire summer. Help the Waterfront Coordinator with day to day operations, and life guard supervision and management. Position is required to work 3-4 days per week and one of those days must be a weekend. Must hold a current Lifeguard with Waterfront Skills Certification.
Lifeguards (Waterfront) – Will help maintain a safe and family friendly waterfront at the Lakes. Will enforce all rules and report any incidents to Waterfront Coordinators. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, reliable Customer service experience, ability to handle and resolve problems professionally, takes the initiative, and ability to remain focused for long periods of time. Must hold a Lifeguard with Waterfront Skills certification, or obtain one before being hired.
Assistant Group Leader – For the Action Adventures Out of School Program (children kindergarten – age 14). Implement and participate in enriching activities including physical activities, outdoor play, homework help, and art projects. Applicants must be at least 18, with previous experience.
Summer Camp Counselors – We’re looking to hire energetic, reliable counselors to provide safe and memorable experiences for day campers age 5-12. Counselors must be fun-loving, patient and love the outdoors. Previous experience working with school age children preferred. Must be willing to become 1st Aid CPR certified. Employment runs June 25th-August 24th.
Housatonic Park Coordinators – Looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to supervise children at the Housatonic Park and Playground for the summer of 2018. Individuals must be enthusiastic and work well with children. Responsibilities include enforcing park rules, recording daily attendance and organizing fun games and activities. Housatonic Park Coordinator will report to the Parks Manager.

Year Round Staff Positions
Custodian (Part Time) – Looking to fill 3 P/T positions, 15-18 hours/wk. for evening & weekend hours ranging from 5-10 p.m. M-F and 2-7pm weekends. Duties include cleaning, grounds, room set-ups & light maintenance. Must be able to lift 50lbs, multi-task, work w/ minimal supervision, be professional & reliable.
Fitness Floor Trainer – Seeking a Fitness Center Floor Trainer for part-time position. $11-12/hr based on certifications and experience. Individual should be positive, have excellent customer service skills and be passionate about health and wellness. Responsibilities include orienting members to fitness equipment, upholding center policies, responding to first aid needs, cleaning equipment and ensuring a positive fitness experience for all guests. Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age and CPR/First Aid certified. FitTour certification (or equivalent) is required. FitTour Certifications can be acquired within 30 days of hire. All employees receive a membership to the Community Center.
Fitness Instructors (Substitute) – Seeking on-call, certified group fitness instructors to serve the needs of current clientele teaching cardio/med/high intensity classes. The ideal instructor should be passionate about health and wellness, ambitious, positive, and motivated to see clientele meet their fitness goals. Instructor must be certified to teach groups. Preference is given to experienced individuals who are knowledgeable about current fitness trends, can present a diverse exercise experience and who can work with all levels of ability.
Lifeguards (for the Community Center) – Positions open for multiple shifts at the Community Center. Individual will provide close supervision of swimmers, rescue swimmers who are in danger, administer first aid, rescue breathing or CPR as needed. Responsible for enforcing all pool rules and regulations and for preparing and maintaining a safe, clean aquatics center environment as part of duties. Individual will support upkeep tasks in the pool area, conduct water tests, and attend all staff training sessions. Must be responsible, and current in Lifeguard training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid. Must be at least 16 years of age.
Preschool Teacher (Substitute) – EEC-qualified preschool teacher needed 2 afternoons per week plus occasional subbing. Tuesdays & Thursdays 2:30-5:30. Must have or obtain CPR & First Aid certifications.
Childcare Providers – Experienced, professional child-oriented people needed to provide substitute care for infants and children in our Stay and Play program and our Sunshine Preschool. Per diem with convenient morning or evening hours available. CPR & First Aid certification required within 30 days of employment.
Group Leader – Group Leader needed for Action Adventures Out of School Program (children kindergarten – age 14). Manager on Duty/Facilities (Sundays) – This individual will oversee the facility, Sundays 8 a.m.-5 p.m.. Duties include cleaning, grounds, room-set ups, trouble shooting problems, etc. Must have strong work ethic, customer service skills and be a reliable, team player.
Manager on Duty (Substitute) – This position will cover weekends, evenings and special event shifts during the year. The Manager on Duty will oversee the facility during operating hours ensuring a safe recreational environment always while on duty. This person must have: strong leadership skills, strong work ethic/reliable, team player, customer service/able to handle & resolve problems, maintain a professional appearance, trustworthy, CPR/First Aid certified.
