SUNSHINE PRESCHOOL is our state-licensed preschool program for children two years nine months to kindergarten-ready. Sunshine strives to provide a solid educational foundation for our students while ensuring the program is financially accessible and available during optimal hours for working families. Sunshine Preschool runs Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm.
Children learn through play in this fun and hands-on educational environment. Activities include art, crafts, creative movement, dramatic play, storytime, songs, gym, outdoor activities, and our splash playground. Sunshine’s philosophy encourages learning in a safe, warm, and accepting environment.
We offer an atmosphere that enables children to respect themselves and others. Through creative experiences, we enhance the child’s ability to socialize with others, make clever use of materials available, promote self-expression and foster cognitive development. Our goal is to provide a high-quality educational program and environment where children can further develop a positive self-concept that fosters their creativity and strengthens their joy of learning.
Sunshine Preschool is proud to be a peanut, tree nut-free program that can accommodate other food allergies.

Curriculum
Our teachers follow a carefully curated state-of-the-art curriculum to prepare children for kindergarten. We follow standards put forth by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education & Care. Although we have a set curriculum, we use children’s curiosity to guide their daily learning. We allow time for teachable moments and flexibility while providing consistency and clear expectations for the children. Children participate throughout the day in individual, small groups, and large group activities. An important component of our year is learning about our children’s families and customs.

Annual commitment is required for enrollment. Any changes must be made in writing and will only be recognized after a 30 day period. During the 30 day period, the director will review the request and make a final determination. Account credits, if approved, will be made at the sole discretion of Berkshire South. Sick, snow or cancelled days will not be credited. Sunshine Preschool is closed on the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. Financial Assistance is available through the Judy Spencer Scholarships for Early Childhood.
