Your nonprofit community resource

Dear Friends of Berkshire South,

What does it take to build real and lasting community among a diverse group of people? It’s a question at the heart of our mission here at Berkshire South. As I reflect on the vibrant tapestry of people who walk through our doors each day, I’m reminded of the countless stories, struggles, and dreams that unite us. When you truly think about how we all have found this one institution to depend upon, I feel like the answer to the question is rather obvious—a feeling of belonging.

Every day at Berkshire South we strive to create a place in which everyone feels welcome, a place that people can claim as their own, one where shared experiences unite people. YOU create this sense of belonging every time you welcome someone new to your yoga class, share a vulnerable moment in “Improv for Theatre”, or invite someone to sit with you at Community Supper.
As one of our members has recently told us

BSRCC is truly a community center for all residents. Walking from the parking lot to the center you see a banner that states: All are Welcome Here. It sets the tone that residents from all backgrounds with all levels of ability are welcome. The Community Center is not only a place for working out, swimming or playing basketball, it is where you can sing with a community chorus, learn to play the ukulele with the Berkshire Ukulele Band, take babysitting and cooking classes, enjoy lectures, share dinner with others at community suppers, and so much more for every age group. BSRCC helps to create healthy minds, bodies and souls, all things that help to enrich our community at large.

Today, I’m writing to ask you to make a gift to Berkshire South. Your support will ensure that the Center remains the vital resource our community depends upon and a place where everyone belongs.

You may not know that Berkshire South is a nonprofit, and that it relies heavily on the generosity of its donors to survive. People are often surprised to learn that the Center’s membership and program fees cover only 50% of our operating costs annually, which means that your financial contributions to the Center really do make a difference in keeping our doors open to the broad swath of the community who rely upon us, not just for fitness and wellness opportunities, but for friendship, support and connection.

We are so grateful to you for the role you play in building a caring and compassionate community and for helping us expand access and opportunity to others in our region who find their place here as well.

With sincere appreciation,
