OVERVIEW

Berkshire South is where kids can learn and grow in mind and body! The variety of programs we offer mean that kids with all sorts of interests can explore and experience in a fun environment! Programs engage kids in creative activities that build artistic and academic skills, develop discipline, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and a sense of achievement and self-esteem.

Munchkins and Melodies

This early childhood music program is created and conducted by board-certified music therapists. It offers a developmental approach to infant and toddler music classes that supports age-appropriate emotional, social, and motor development through musical play. These groups include “family dyads” (one child and a guardian/important adult in their life), so parents have the opportunity to connect with other families while also learning fun songs to engage their children during times of transition (doctor appointments, car rides, waiting for mealtimes, etc.).

Youth Ballet 2 - Intermediate

This class elevates students’ ballet skills by deepening their understanding and enhancing their imagination. Children will develop coordination, spatial awareness, flexibility, rhythm, and fundamental dance techniques in a positive and encouraging atmosphere.

Come sing with Willy Welch, the composer of three dozen songs for the PBS kids’ show “Barney & Friends.” Willy is an accomplished actor who has appeared off-Broadway and has been entertaining children for over three decades. Spend an hour singing and playing along to his music with age appropriate musical instruments. Then, spend an hour playing in our splash pool!
Registration is required, as space is limited.

Mindful Birding Walk

Join wilderness educator, naturalist, and guide Tes Reed on a nature walk to explore the autumn landscape and its wildlife inhabitants. You’ll learn about the changing landscape, identify trees by their branches and fallen leaves, discover what animals are doing this time of year, investigate wild edible plants, and more. The land will guide our journey!

Fire-Making Workshop

Everyone loves a campfire! Come learn how to make a one-match fire using materials from the earth. Try your hand at primitive friction fire methods, including bow drill and fire steel/flint and steel. Throughout the day, we will be reading the land, recognizing animal signs, interpreting bird calls, and getting to know the trees and plants surrounding us. Together we will build a community fire, cook up something from the wild, and enjoy our lunch around its light and warmth. Please pack a lunch. *Parent or guardian required.

Halloween Inspired Treats

Kids of All Ages

Create Halloween treats while dressed in your favorite costume! We will bake pumpkin whoopie pies and decorate Halloween-themed sugar cookies and spooky cupcakes. Each child will take home a box of finished treats. *Parent or guardian required.

Young dancers will learn basic ballet positions, terminology, and techniques while exploring creativity and expression in a supportive environment.
